I wrote yet another book! This one is pretty big, actually, with over 90 chapters, all of which are rather meaty. I also released the rough drafts of the book chapter by chapter on my website and you can read what I wrote and get the gist of the chapters. Honestly, you don’t even need to read the book. There is enough information between the blog postings and the resources pages found HERE that the rest of the book might just be fluff.

With that said, the blog is a very first draft, mostly notes, of the final book. It’s out of order and a tad messy. This gives you a peek inside my writing process where I do the technical, eclectic part first and the voice tends to change depending on the topic I am discussing and the research I did for the chapter. Paraphrasing from common knowledge sources in the first draft gives it that eclectic look and feel. Finding Profitable Online Niche Markets with Research.

It's likely that you will need to spend some time researching the kinds of goods and services that you can successfully market unless you already have a wonderful idea in mind. This is an excellent oldie. Making sure your press release is about a story worth covering is the trick. Starting a new newsletter, for instance, is not always a newsworthy development (but it might in certain niche markets for smaller publications). It might be newsworthy to issue a press release announcing a sizable donation you are making, complete with a pertinent backstory. It all depends on the magazine and your target market (s). If editors believe there is news for their audience, they will take up press releases. They don't give a damn about you or your business. That's how your press release must be written. For physical locations like auto dealerships, think about experimenting with an on-site diner, barbershop, coffee shop, putting green, wireless internet, video arcade, kid-friendly play areas, book stores, manicurists, climbing walls, mini-museum, ice-cream shop, etc. These can be effective, particularly for organizations where consumers must wait. Adding a pool and personal trainers makes them more attractive than Planet Fitness, but for us Planet Fitness members, the Black Card holders (which is only an extra $12 per month), have access to the hydro massage and tanning. 

Unexpected amenities are always a nice treat, such as high quality coffee in a waiting area. My barber has a Play Station set up and while people wait, they can freely play video games. You think that doesn’t help bring in customers?

Newsletters are a great way to stay in touch with your customers, offer them exclusive discounts and coupons, let them know about upcoming events (a wine store, for instance, can let its customers know about an upcoming wine tasting event), share recipes, articles, advice, and tips on how to make the most of your products and services, and much more. Case studies, success tales, recommendations, and sales pitches for other goods and services are all welcome here.

The following advice will help you operate a successful newsletter:

Make sure it's not just a sales pitch. You want it to be a gift that your customers eagerly anticipate receiving. They may become annoyed by excessive advertising and mistake it for junk mail. Include top-notch content on a range of topics that aren't just about your company. Stay interesting.

Keep it steady and routine. Avoid sending it three times in one month and then not sending it again for two months. While quarterly is OK, monthly is far superior.

There are firms that will create regular material for your email if you struggle to come up with ideas or lack the time. One great resource is pagesmag.com. 

Check your newsletter for errors. When the word should have been "fore," a spellchecker won't indicate "four." Grammar checks are included in programs like Microsoft Word. Verify the veracity of the facts and that the dates, timings, and locations are accurate. Verify coupon values and other numbers one more time.

Once you've created a layout that functions, make an effort to stick with it from issue to issue.

Make reading it simple for the eyes. On black or colored backgrounds, avoid using white type. On a light blue background, avoid using dark blue font. Serif fonts should be used for body text. Don't make reading it seem like too much labor. Give white space plenty of room.

A video brochure offers even larger benefits over a print brochure than being just a CD salesletter. Contrary to infomercials, which are subject to some stringent rules, video brochures can be almost any format. The "news broadcast" format, which is prohibited in infomercials, is permissible. Since consumers anticipate to see television shows when they view a video brochure, ones that resemble television programs work best. Now, testimonials may include videos of the testifier. This format also works really well for before and after photos.

New technology has made small LCD screens relatively affordable. The word “relatively” means it’s relative to what you are selling. You will need a higher end client to send these to for products with huge profit gain potential.

After giving your first lecture, you should immediately move on to Step 6, but while you're doing so, keep approaching nearby venues. As you attempt to go up the ladder, doing this will increase your experience, skill, and confidence.

Step 6: Speak at a Regional Conference.

Choose a significant regional conference or convention relevant to your field of study. 

If you're advancing your career, it's simple to understand how to do this: attend the conference for your industry. Book a writing conference or a fan convention if you're a writer. Generic speakers should look into local conferences and contact them with specific presentation ideas. 

Renting regional venues for conferences works the same way as booking local ones, although there will be greater competition for better slots.

Ensure the quality of your web presence. Provide a rundown of the engagements you've already won. Be sure to include reviews from attendees.

The Marketing Rule of 7

What if a grocery store created a dedicated line for its top clients, along with extra baggers and other tools to expedite the check-out procedure?
  • The seven days a week that Commerce Bank is open. Do you believe that some individuals would want to be able to bank on Sundays? Furthermore, Liberty Bank provides free ATM use. Even ATM fees from other banks' will be covered by them.

What affects consumer behavior?

There are many factors that can influence consumer behavior, but the ones that do so most frequently are:

1. Marketing campaigns. Purchase decisions are significantly influenced by marketing initiatives. They can even encourage customers to switch brands or choose more expensive alternatives if done well, consistently, and with the right marketing message.   • Recurring-personal events are buying patterns for a certain client that repeatedly occur over time. For instance, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, monthly expenditures, or even daily rituals like stopping for a cup of coffee every morning on the way to work. 
  • Rare-personal occurrences are likewise connected to specific clients, but they are more erratic and unplanned, making them harder to anticipate. For instance, going to a friend's wedding.

3. Usage rate. Another popular method of behavior-based customer segmentation is based on the frequency with which a client interacts or makes purchases from a given product or service. Use patterns can serve as a powerful predictor of lifetime value and, consequently, loyalty or churn.

4. Brand loyalty status. The most precious assets for a company are its loyal consumers. They can become brand evangelists, have the highest lifetime value, and are less expensive to maintain. 

Customers can be divided into groups according to how loyal they are by studying behavioral data, which enables marketers to comprehend their wants and ensure that they are met. To foster and enhance the customer relationship and encourage future business, loyal clients should be given special treatment and privileges, such as access to special rewards programs.

5. User status. Depending on your company, there are a wide range of possible user statuses. Many instances are:

  • Non-users.
  • Prospects.
  • First-time buyers.
  • Regular users.
  • Defectors (ex-customers who have switched to a competitor).

6. Customer journey stage. Marketers may synchronize messaging and personalize experiences to enhance conversion at every stage by segmenting the audience based on buyer readiness. 

Additionally, it enables them to find the stages at which customers are stagnating so they can pinpoint the biggest challenges and growth possibilities, even for post-purchase habits. The RFM model is another method of segmentation in addition to these conventional approaches. Because it enables businesses to build customer experiences around the data they have on each customer category, this strategy is well-liked among eCommerce marketers. 

Recency, Frequency, and Monetary Value are the three letters that make up the behavioral segmentation model known as RFM.

Here’s what these variables show you:

  • Recency = how recently a customer placed the last order on your website.

Trade exhibitions, seminars, your local Chamber of Commerce, and any place where your prospects congregate are all excellent places to network. Mini-seminars.

These are a fantastic way to package together all of your goods and services and sell them on the platform. Renting a space to host a two-hour presentation on a topic of interest to your target audience is quite affordable. You establish yourself as the authority and get to promote your goods and services. Make sure to record the presentation so you can share it with potential customers who might not be able to attend in person.

The delivery of content has gotten simpler over time, but it has been around for a long time. things like this video, as an illustration. It may be podcasts, email blasts, sponsoring a forum with lots of participants, or social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Nowadays, everything is so simple. But, I believe that many people are forgetting about the traditional form of content marketing, which goes by the names of seminars, workshops, and training events. Get help! No man is an island and you can’t pull this off on your own. You need people to help you with the event.

Have a CTA (call to action). All marketing methods end up being the same and never leave your prospects wondering what they are going to do next or trying to guess. 

Show and tell. Have sponsors there. Hell, get sponsors to pay for the event so you can help them showcase their products. 

Bonus tip. Get video!!! You don’t know the future and it would be nice to have video of you speaking publicly so you can cut smaller bits out for a commercial for the next one or to use in its entirety as some form of video or audio seminar. Plus you can learn a lot from watching yourself and know what to focus on the next time.

Card Decks.

These are stacks of index cards that are mailed to certain groups of people. Each card in a deck may have an advertisement or a discount, and there may be 50 to 200 cards in a deck. On the back, they might serve as a reply card for business. It's extremely crucial to have a fantastic headline and layout because your advertisement will blend in with the sea of others.

Business Buying Behavior.

 

Business buyer behavior refers to the intentions and actions displayed by businesses and workers when making purchases on behalf of the company. Understanding a company's needs and wants in order to make purchases that would ultimately help it make money is known as business buying behavior. 

Employees at companies are given specialized responsibilities that include making company purchases. Business buyer is a common title for this position. On the basis of the business buying process, which aids businesses in obtaining the best raw materials and products that can be processed to yield the greatest output and profits, business buyer behavior may be studied. Business-to-business (B2B) buying, institutional buying, or organizational buying is defined as a process through which a corporation or organization determines a need for acquiring products, gathers data, and assesses products and services from rival brands and suppliers to make a final purchase choice.

In addition to using them in their manufacturing process to create a finished good or service for customers, businesses purchase goods and services for internal consumption. When the products are employed in the company's own manufacturing process, the purchasing process is referred to as industrial buying. Organizational buying is also known as institutional buying or business buying. In some aspects, organizational purchasing resembles individual consumer purchasing since people from various organizational levels are participating in the purchasing process rather than the organization itself.

The job of an industrial marketer is to determine who is involved in the decision-making process for purchases. 

The people and organizations involved in the decision to make a purchase collectively are referred to as the buying center.

  • Approvers. Members of the organization who approve the acquisition are called approvers. 
  • Buyers. Employees in the company with the formal power to choose suppliers and negotiate terms of purchases.

What motivates business buyers? Efficiency, Economical products, good quality, simplicity, saleability, ease of operation, space saving, obsolescence of current products, safety, and cleanliness are the primary reasons for business purchases. 

Procedure for Making Business Purchases.

Problem Identification. The first step in organizational purchasing is identifying or recognizing a need that can be satisfied by obtaining a good or service. 

Statement of a general need. The step in the corporate purchasing process where a buyer decides on product specifications, such as general features and the quantity of an item desired. 

Supplier lookup. The phase of the purchasing process for businesses during which the buyer attempts to identify the best suppliers or providers. 

Information Lookup and Supplier Assessment. When choosing suppliers, a buying center may need to analyze a number of product categories for a certain need.

Orders for purchases are negotiated. A contractual arrangement between a customer from an organization and a supplier may be negotiated. Such a contract may relate to a single purchase of a product or to repeated purchases over time. 

Performance Assessment of the Supplier. Organizational buyers typically evaluate the supplier's effectiveness and adherence to the purchase agreement. Hence, evaluating suppliers after a purchase is a crucial component of organizational purchasing.

Factors influencing the buying behavior of businesses.

Environment-Related Factors. The most significant environmental factor affecting organizational buyer behavior is the impact of the status of the economy and other economic issues, such as government policy. 

Organizational Elements. Internal factors like an organization's culture and environment have an impact on purchasing decisions. Every organization has commercial purchasing policies and procedures. These systems and practices have evolved over time, reflecting the enterprise's culture, policies and practices, processes, structures, and goals.

Personality factors. The marketer wants to know who has the most influence and who can persuade others to share his point of view. Understanding group dynamics aids the marketer in developing his approach to selling to the buying center. The buying center is made up of a variety of participants, each with varying levels of attitude and power dynamics. 

Personal variables. While making decisions about what to buy, people consider their preferences, knowledge of the market, and reasons. Age, income, employment, position in the organization, and perception of the risk involved in the decision-making process are all demographic factors that affect decision-making. These elements directly influence organizational buyers' choices.

THE 7 Ps of Marketing.

 

The marketing mix is a combination of choices made in a few different areas to satisfy client needs. E.J. McCarthy has previously listed the Marketing Mix's four components. Product, price, promotion, and place or physical distribution are a few of them. These components are often referred to as the "four Ps of Marketing Mix." One further component—people—was added to the 4 Ps as marketing developed as a discipline. Eventually, two additional Ps—Process and Physical evidence—that are tailored to the service industry were introduced. 

These factors are connected because choices made in one area frequently influence choices made in other areas. The term "Marketing Mix" is frequently used to describe this combination or blend of components. Basically, it focuses on the intended audience.

1. Product.

Start by getting into the habit of approaching your product as if you were an outside marketing consultant hired to advise your company on whether or not it is currently in the correct line of work. Address important questions like, "Are your existing product, service, or combination of products and services suitable for the present market and customers? Does this product address a customer's problem in any way?" 

Develop the habit of honestly evaluating your business whenever you aren't selling as many of your goods or services as you would like and asking, "Are these the proper goods or services for our clients today?"

Do you currently offer any goods or services that, in light of what you now know, you wouldn't offer today? Is your product or service, when compared to those of your rivals, significantly better than anything else on the market? What is it if so? If not, could you create a niche where you excel? In the current market, should you even be providing this good or service?

2. Prices.

Price is the second P in the formula. Make it a practice to regularly assess and reassess your pricing plan for the goods and services you sell to ensure that it still makes sense in light of the market's reality. You may need to cut your prices occasionally. It can be reasonable to increase your prices at other times.

At times, you need to do market research to check what comparable products in your business are selling for to make sure your pricing is competitive. Several businesses have discovered that the profitability of particular new goods or services doesn't justify the time and money spent developing them. They may lose some clients as a result of boosting their prices, but the majority still makes money on each transaction. Would you be a good fit for this?

Your sales terms and conditions may need to be modified occasionally. Sometimes spreading out your price over several months or years allows you to sell much more than you are currently doing, and the interest you can charge more than makes up for the time you have to wait before receiving payment. With special deals and promotions, you can occasionally combine goods and services. Several businesses partner to sell goods or services that are comparable to one another. Several businesses work with distributors or manufacturers' reps. Many businesses combine one or more of these techniques.

In each situation, the business owner must choose the optimum location or setting for the consumer to get the crucial information about the good or service needed to make a decision. What do you have? What should you modify about it? Where else could you be able to sell your goods or services?

5. Packaging.

The packaging makes up the fifth component of the marketing mix. Make it a habit to step back and examine each visual component of the packaging for your physical product or service from the perspective of a discerning customer. Keep in mind that consumers form an opinion of you or an aspect of your business within the first 30 seconds of seeing you. Minor changes to your product or service's packaging or outward appearance can frequently cause radically different responses from your target market.

You should consider the entire customer experience when planning the packaging for your business, your product, or your service—what they see from the initial point of contact with your business through the purchasing process. To produce a strong first impression, take into account branded packaging.

Your customer is more likely to recall their first interaction with your brand favorably if it has an appealing appearance. Another fantastic addition to bespoke packaging that can encourage people to interact with your brand and encourage recurring interactions is including your company logo and social media handles. 

Packaging describes the exterior appearance of your good or service. Packaging also relates to the appearance and grooming of your staff. It refers to all of the visual components of your business, including your offices, waiting areas, brochures, letters, and more. Every detail matters. Every action either helps or hurts. Everything has an impact on a customer's trust in working with you.

6. Positioning.

Positioning is the following P. You should make it a habit to always consider where you are in the eyes and minds of your clients. When you're not there, how are others imagining you and talking about you? What are people saying and thinking about your business? What kind of positioning do you have in your market, in terms of the particular keywords people use to talk about you and your products?

According to Al Reis and Jack Trout's renowned book Positioning, the key factor determining your success in a cutthroat market is how your customers perceive and think of you. According to the principle of attribution, most clients have a single, either positive or negative, attribute in mind when they think of you. It might also be "service." It might also be "excellence." Occasionally, as with Mercedes Benz, it's "quality engineering." As with BMW, there are occasions when it's "the ultimate driving machine." Every time, the degree to which that attribute is ingrained in the thoughts of your clients and potential customers impacts how easily and for what price they'll purchase your good or service.

Make it a practice to consider how you may position yourself more effectively. Decide on the position you want to have before anything else. What would you say if you could leave your consumers with the perfect impression? What would you need to say or do in every customer interaction to compel them to think and speak in that certain way? What adjustments must you make to the way you deal with clients today if you want to remain the top choice for their needs in the future?

7. People.

People make up the last P in the marketing mix. Make it a habit to consider all of the internal and external stakeholders in your company who are involved in your sales, marketing, and other activities. 

It's amazing how many business owners and entrepreneurs will put a lot of effort into considering every aspect of the marketing strategy and the marketing mix, but then give little thought to the requirement that each and every decision and policy be carried out by a specific person, in a specific manner. The capacity to choose, find, hire, and keep the right people who have the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to carry out the work you need done is more crucial than all the other factors together.

The most crucial strategy used by the top organizations, according to Jim Collins' best-selling book Good to Great, was to "get the right people on the bus, and the wrong ones off the bus." The next phase was to "get the right people in the right seats on the bus" after these businesses had employed the appropriate candidates.

You must form the habit of considering precisely who will carry out each work and obligation if you want to succeed in business. In many situations, you can't advance unless you can find and place the appropriate individual in the proper position. The best company plans ever written are currently on shelf because their authors were unable to locate the crucial personnel needed to carry them out.
